Die Würzburger Domsingknaben gehören zu den traditionsreichen Knabenchören in Deutschland. Die Hauptaufgabe der Domsingknaben seit ihrer Gründung 1961 ist die musikalische Gestaltung der Gottesdienste im Kiliansdom, abwechselnd mit den anderen Chören der Dommusik. Den Domsingknaben obliegt die Pflege der gesamten abendländischen geistlichen Chorliteratur, von der Gregorianik bis zur Moderne. 

Nach der Mutation bilden die Jugendlichen die Männerstimmen der Würzburger Domsingknaben. Neben gemischt-stimmigem Repertoire widmen sie sich als eigenständiges Ensemble der Literatur für Männerchor. 

Die Domsingknaben sind als Chorakademie aufgebaut. Die altersgemäße Ausbildung der Kinder bleibt in allen Chorstufen stets kostenlos. Die Jungen beginnen im Kleinkindalter mit der musikalischen Früherziehung, es folgen mehrere Altersstufen bis zum Konzertchor. Neben einer fundierten musikalischen Ausbildung legen wir Wert darauf, dass die Kinder Freude am Singen entwickeln und soziale Kompetenzen im Umgang miteinander erwerben. Die sensible Wahrnehmung eines jeden Sängers für den Anderen und die Verantwortung füreinander sind Voraussetzungen für unsere hohe musikalische Qualität. 

Neben einer umfassenden musikalischen Grundausbildung bieten wir unseren jungen Sängern ein umfangreiches aussermusikalisches Freizeitangebot: In den Räumen der Dommusik haben die Sänger Möglichkeiten ihre Hausaufgaben zu verrichten oder ins Gespräch zu kommen. Ob gemeinsame Kinobesuche, Chorfreizeiten auf unserer eigenen Burg oder der monatliche „Domsingknabenfußball“ – wir möchten, dass unsere Knaben integriert sind in eine gute Gemeinschaft.

Besonders beliebt sind auch unsere regelmäßigen kleinen und großen Konzertreisen. Gastaufenthalte führten die Würzburger Domsingknaben zu befreundeten Dommusiken in ganz Deutschland und darüber hinaus in die Niederlande, nach Frankreich, Italien, England, Polen und Russland.

The Würzburg Cathedral Boys’ Choir is one of Germany’s most traditional boys’ choirs. Since its foundation in 1961, the choir’s main role has been to provide musical accompaniment for services at St Kilian’s Cathedral, alternating with the other choirs of the cathedral music ensemble. The Würzburg Cathedral Boys’ Choir is responsible for preserving the entire Western sacred choral repertoire, from Gregorian chant to modern works. 

After their voices break, the young men form the male voices of the Würzburg Cathedral Boys’ Choir. In addition to a mixed-voice repertoire, they devote themselves to the repertoire for male choir as an independent ensemble. 

The Würzburg Cathedral Boys’ Choir is organised as a choral academy. Age-appropriate training for the children remains free of charge at all levels of the choir. The boys begin with early musical education in early childhood, followed by several age groups leading up to the concert choir. In addition to a sound musical education, we place great importance on the children developing a love of singing and acquiring social skills in their interactions with one another. Each singer’s sensitivity towards their fellow singers and their sense of responsibility for one another are prerequisites for our high musical standard. 

As well as a comprehensive basic musical education, we offer our young singers a wide range of extra-curricular activities: in the Dommusik premises, the singers have the opportunity to do their homework or chat with one another. Whether it’s going to the cinema together, choir retreats at our own castle or the monthly ‘Domsingknaben football’ – we want our boys to be part of a close-knit community.

Our regular concert tours, both short and long, are also particularly popular. The Würzburg Cathedral Boys’ Choir has made guest visits to partner cathedral choirs throughout Germany and beyond, to the Netherlands, France, Italy, England, Poland and Russia.
